When I first spoke with Sara and Jordan I had a good feeling about their engagement session and the vision we discussed. Then, when they got out of their car the afternoon of their session I knew that this was going to be epic.
When Drey and Andrea asked me to photograph their wedding, I was so excited. When they told me the date was six weeks away, I was in shock. How they heck were they going to pull that off?
Imagine my surprise when I show up to the North Caroline house Drey grew up in and the backyard is transformed into a whimsical wedding venue.
When I met this beautiful couple for their pre-session consult, we spent over an hour just chit-chatting. LOL. I think we talked business for ten minutes before we left the coffee shop. The kind of clients that you know your going to have a special experience with.
I actually like the fact that the oldest daughter was not having it until she warmed up to me, which was at our second location. All while baby sister, was all about showing off her newly formed teeth and happy to take a few steps for the camera with dad’s assistance.
In home, lifestyle newborn sessions are just the sweetest things. I fall in love with the candidness of them and how they just capture the pulse of a family at such a beautiful time in their family’s story.
Wow, so this session has got some traction in the little bit that’s been shared, so I thought I'd get the blog post done so you guys could see a bit more from the session.
I will be honest, you mix kids and horses and it can be crazy. In addition it was summer in Texas out at Grace Ranch. I think there was an adult per kid and extra helpers that made this session possible and I think we all got some chuckles out of the situation.
When you are a lifestyle photographer, you have to have a healthy respect for rain. I'm all for doing a rainy session, as long as it isn't a downpour. I actually think it can add a fun element to the portraits!
We live in the South and that means summer is stinking hot. For many, that translates into no outside photo sessions. Well, that doesn't necessarily need to be the case.
It was Sunday afternoon and the day was just a perfect pre-summer warmth. The weather had given us a bit of a run for our money this weekend, but when I showed up at the Baton Rouge State Capitol Park I knew we had lucked out.
It is always special to photograph old friends, and this was the perfect opportunity to do so. Now, if you are at all familiar with Victoria, you know that the weather this year has been particularly crazy with large variances. Much to all our surprise, this February afternoon was flat out coat worthy.
Lucky for us, the weather was great, okay, well a little warm. That's Baton Rouge though! Look at these gorgeous families. Such personality with the kiddos. Best part, it all went off without a hitch!
Fall is my favorite time of year by far. Everything from the smells, to the colors and even the football on TV. As a family photographer, there's another reason I love it....... family portraits.
I absolutely love to photograph kids. I think it is because I cherish my own kids' portraits so much that I just love being able to do that for my clients.
This little guy was no exception. He was so easy to work with, and everywhere. Which made for a fun session and some great shots of him running around.
Some of you might reckognize this senior, that's my baby cousin. All grown up!!!!!
I absolutely love children portrait photography. It is a big perk of this job. Another perk is that my job can travel with me. So while I'm a Baton Rouge photographer, I can still travel to fun locations for sessions. In this particular case, I traveled back to our old stomping ground in Houston to do a six-month session of a dear friend's precious little girl. adorable little one was just a dream to work with. Since I'm friends with her mom, we were able to catch up a bit during the photo shoot. We meet up at League Park, a cute little park not far from them. It had some great little spots we used and a fun gazebo. Oh, and of course mom had some adorable outfits and blankets, some of which were hers as a child. Making it extra special to incorporate.
I always think a newborn session is such a special honor to photograph. Some friends of ours had a second little girl just before Christmas and I was able to photograph her when she was still a tiny little thing. How precious is she?
I just saw this precious little nugget via FaceTime a couple days ago, and she's already changed in the few weeks since her session. So I had to share!
Katie and Brandon have bee engaged for a bit now, in fact their wedding is this summer. I still wanted to share their engagement session.
As a family portrait photographer, newborn photography is one of the most exciting sessions I have the pleasure of photographing.
One of the many benefits of being a photographer in Baton Rouge, is that LSU is here. I love what the college ads to the town. The spirit, the fun restaurants, and just a good vibe.
A beach session may not be what comes to mind when you think of fall family portraits, but it’s thing. And it is a BEAUTIFUL thing.
