My top three tips to a great gallery wall

We all love to display our gorgeous family portraits.  After all, that's a good reason for getting a professional photographer to take your family portraits.  Since I photograph my family a lot, I am no different.  So I decided to put together these tips to help you put together your own gallery wall.

#1.  Get some inspiration on how best to arrange your images.  I have a few ideas pinned on my pinterest page if you want a starting place.  There are so many approaches that you can really personalize it to fit your wall and to include your favorite portraits.

For some, this next step will come first if they want to get canvases from a portrait session, or have something on hand that they know that want to start their gallery wall with.

#2.  Decide what you are going to hang and if you need any frames.  I'm a huge framed portrait fan personally, and I like to swap out my pictures fairly often, so I opt for frames.  If you prefer canvases, that's great too!  They make such a statement on a wall.

Have you considered adding other memorabilia or perhaps kids artwork?  The ability to get creative here is endless.

When I'm working with clients and do a reveal night, I like to chat with them on how they are going to display their portraits and where.  That really helps me help them narrow down what size and products fits best into their design.

#3.  I like to then cut out pieces of paper the size of the object I'm hanging and tape them directly to the wall.  I put a little description on the paper too so that I can have my handy husband hang them and know where I want them.  I've even gone as far as to post-it note a number on the picture and on the wall cut out so their are no questions.  LOL.  

I know it sounds simple, but I know narrowing down what I want takes a bit of time.
