As a photographer, I’m always looking for new projects, collaborations and ways to grow. As a small business owner, I think it is important to support others in business in the Katy, Houston and surrounding areas. What’s even better, is when you know the owners. That’s the case with Meagan. She and her husband, Darren, are the owners of Leeco Honey and they have done such an amazing job building a lovely brand. Their family of four girls is also involved.
So, I finally was able to come and photograph a harvest. The first thing that caught me was how welcoming everything was.
We started with some family portraits as I was shown around the property.
Then Darren got out the boxes and started the process of extracting the honey and separating any wax from it. I didn’t expect it to be as labor intensive as it was. There is a lot of time and love that goes into their honey. The entire process involves the family. There are bottles to label, boxes to decorate and orders to fill.
My main goal during this, wasn’t to pose it all. I wanted to be a fly on the wall. Document the process. In looking at their images you see all the family. The realness that it is. The bubbles in the fresh honey pour.
Any time I look at these I feel like I’m in their kitchen, part of the harvest all over again. The honey is insane. It tastes so much more distinct and unique than anything I’ve ever had before. I especially enjoy it in tea in the evening.
I can’t express my gratitude to have the opportunity to spend the day and be so welcomed by Meagan, Darren and the family.

When Covid hit the Houston area, I knew it would impact my business. Like many, it dramatically did. Everything came to a screeching halt. Originally, I welcomed the time, virtual learning was filling my days and family time was filling my evenings.
The one thing I didn’t see coming, is that many people would take this time to finally tackle the marketing and design components they have been putting off. The past few weeks I’ve had several corporate groups and headshot sessions.
